Susan Bell

Susan Bell a native Coloradan, paints scenes of the contemporary west.  Her interpretation of the modern west and horse culture are often a visual irony.  Reflective of the romanticized past merging with present realities.  Animals figure prominently in her work and her focus on plein air painting allows her to capture the essence of the subjects and the movement of light as it can only be seen by the eye over time.

Her Trompe l’oiel Window paintings combine landscape with wildlife portraits and precisely painted still lifes, which result in works which tell or invoke a surreal story or feeling.
